Best Time to Visit the Costa Blanca: A Month-by-Month Guide

Weather, crowds, prices and events across every month of the year on Spain's Costa Blanca — so you can pick the perfect time to travel.

With 300+ days of sunshine a year, the Costa Blanca is one of Europe's most reliable holiday destinations. But each month has its own personality — here's our honest, month-by-month rundown.

Spring (March–May)

Our favourite time of year. Days are warm (18–24°C), wildflowers cover the hills, and crowds are thin. April Easter (Semana Santa) is the busiest week, with stunning processions in Alicante and Orihuela. May is near-perfect for hiking, golf, and pool-warm Mediterranean swimming.

Summer (June–August)

Peak season. Hot (30–34°C), busy, lively. Beaches in Benidorm, Calpe and Albir are at full tilt; book accommodation and transfers well in advance. July's Hogueras de San Juan in Alicante is a spectacular fire festival worth planning around. August is the hottest, busiest month — and the most expensive.

Autumn (September–November)

The shoulder-season sweet spot. September feels like summer but quieter; October is still warm enough for beach days; November cools to 18–20°C with mostly sunny skies. Flights and hotels drop sharply from mid-October.

Winter (December–February)

Mild and bright — daytime highs of 16–19°C, almost never freezing. Perfect for long-stay travellers, golfers, and northern Europeans escaping the dark. Christmas markets in Alicante and Benidorm are lovely, and January–February are the cheapest months of the year.

So when should you go?

  • Best weather + value: late May, early June, late September.
  • Family beach holiday: July or August (book early).
  • Hiking and exploring: March, April, October.
  • Long stays / golf: November to February.
